This page lists the major providers and sources. Details such as data preprocessing, integration keys and internal indexing are kept confidential as MAPRISE proprietary know-how.

Location optimisation plan areas (including residential inducement zones and urban function inducement zones) are sourced from MLIT National Land Numerical Information (A55) and cover 45 prefectures nationwide. Tottori and Okinawa are excluded because the source data had not been published as of August 2026. Because each municipality formulates its own location optimisation plan at its discretion, no zone data exists for municipalities that have not formulated one. Zone shapes and coordinates are reference information based on the state of the source data; please confirm exact boundaries with the relevant municipality.

Registry information shown here is for reference only. Formal verification of rights requires obtaining a certified copy of registry records. Transaction prices are displayed in accordance with the API terms of use. As of August 2026, the 2026 Land Price Publication covers 25,565 points across all 47 prefectures. The Prefectural Land Price Survey now covers all 47 prefectures, expanded from Kyushu's 7, with 98,684 records spanning the 3 years 2023-2025. Some areas retain a longer time series back to 2007, so the combined total of Land Price Publication and Land Price Survey records held (216,012) does not equal the number of points. As of August 2026, the registry cadastral map (parcel) and farmland parcel (fude) polygons switched from internal-only reference (for address search) to a visible map layer. Coverage varies by municipality's data-preparation status and is expanding progressively. As of August 2026, real-estate transaction price records now include 21 years of history (2005-2025) across all 47 prefectures, totaling 6,577,049 records nationwide. National property for sale has been available since August 2026, covering 2,966 records across all 47 prefectures, of which 1,746 could be located on the map. Properties currently offered by each Local Finance Bureau (142) and properties accepting purchase or lease requests (163) are shown in distinct colors. Listing does not mean the property is currently available for application; in particular, properties accepting requests are not offered for sale. Price fields are accounting book values for reference only and do not represent the actual sale price. Please check the original publication of the relevant Finance Bureau for the latest and accurate details. Note: without signing in, this layer shows properties in the 7 Kyushu prefectures only. Nationwide coverage is available after signing in (Starter or above will be required once the beta period ends).

Inland (rainfall-induced) flood inundation zones now support a clickable vector display showing inundation depth on the map. As of August 2026, coverage spans 22 prefectures and approximately 28 municipalities (Osaka Prefecture is not included, as this data has not been published for it). Coverage varies by municipality depending on each local government's data-preparation status, and is being expanded progressively.
Solar panel coverage areas are MAPRISE's own AI estimates, detected from the GSI Digital Japan Basic Map (orthophoto imagery); they do not guarantee the actual location, shape, or area of any installation. Detection covers only the areas around FIT-certified sites in the 7 Kyushu prefectures, and installations with no certification record, or of a small scale, may not be detected. During the beta period (through 31 October 2026) this layer can be viewed without signing in; once paid plans launch (from 1 November 2026), a Starter plan or above will be required.

City Gas Service Area is reference information created by MAPRISE based on the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy's "List of General Gas Pipeline Operators" (as of June 1, 2025, https://www.enecho.meti.go.jp/category/electricity_and_gas/gas/pdf/list_ichido.pdf) and the wheeling (third-party access) supply terms published by each general gas pipeline operator. Based on 87 supply-area records from 26 operators across the Kyushu 7 prefectures (Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, Miyazaki, and Kagoshima), the 249 target municipalities (government-designated cities counted by ward) are classified into three categories: "Service area exists" (82 municipalities, 32.9%), "Unconfirmed (operator exists)" (3 municipalities, 1.2%), and "No applicable operator" (164 municipalities, 65.9%), as of August 2026 (14 records retain notes on partial supply areas). "Unconfirmed (operator exists)" means a general gas pipeline operator serves the area, but its published materials did not let us confirm the exact service area. This data is municipality-level information; it does not indicate supply across an entire municipality or confirm whether a specific parcel can be supplied. Article 35, Paragraph 1, Item 4 of the Building Lots and Buildings Transaction Business Act covers water supply, electricity, gas, and drainage facilities; this data is reference information for the city-gas portion of that item only and does not by itself satisfy it. MAPRISE is not affiliated or partnered with any of the listed general gas pipeline operators. Please always confirm supply availability for a specific parcel directly with the relevant general gas pipeline operator.

PLATEAU building data density varies because each municipality compiles it on its own schedule and method; some central-city areas currently have lower building coverage than surrounding areas. Since August 2026, coverage has expanded from 27 Kyushu municipalities to a nationwide rollout, reaching 265 municipalities and 23,759,999 buildings as of August 16, 2026 (now including areas outside Kyushu), and ingestion continues on an ongoing basis. Building attributes such as structure type, usage and year built are displayed after reconciliation with the official code lists published by MLIT; buildings for which the source data carries no attribute are shown as "unknown". We also cross-reference the Project PLATEAU office's officially published Attribute Disclosure List (as of March 31, 2026): for municipalities where structure and year-built data has not been compiled at all, we clearly state in the PDF report, the AI chat response, and the map popup that the per-scenario collapse probability shown is a reference value based on an assumption. The on-map building color mode supports three views — by usage, by seismic standard, and by height. Hita, Ogi, and Omachi are not included with usage data in the PLATEAU 3D city model, so buildings in those municipalities are shown as "no usage data" under the by-usage mode (buildings individually surveyed and corrected by MAPRISE are marked with a gold border on the map).
The historical topographic maps (1:50,000, pre-war Showa era) are maps originally produced by the former Imperial Japanese Army Land Survey Department, digitized and published by Stanford University Libraries (public domain), which we have positioned and tiled based on their map-sheet coordinates. Since August 2026, coverage has expanded from Kyushu only to major regions nationwide (spanning Hokkaido, Tohoku, Kanto, Chubu, Kinki, Chugoku, Shikoku, and Kyushu). However, because this data depends on the state of the source collection, we cannot include map sheets that Stanford has not yet digitized. As of August 2026, areas including some major cities such as Sendai, Kyoto, and Osaka are not yet covered (we plan to add them once the source materials are published). These maps are pre-war historical records and do not match current terrain, administrative boundaries, or buildings. Please use them as reference material for understanding historical land-use change.

Open statistics for visualising regional lifestyle patterns — food-item expenditure by prefectural capital city, store counts by genre, barbershop / beauty-salon / medical-facility counts, workers by industry sector, and population per council member by municipality. Used in the "Regional Statistics Heatmap" feature.

We discontinued map display of the forest area (National Land Numerical Information A13), river (W05), and bus-route (N07) layers in August 2026 after confirming their provider's terms of use do not permit use in a commercial service. Other layers — including agricultural area, evacuation facilities, and bus stops — are unaffected. See the Data Update History page for details.
