Location optimisation plan areas (including residential inducement zones and urban function inducement zones) are sourced from MLIT National Land Numerical Information (A55) and cover 45 prefectures nationwide. Tottori and Okinawa are excluded because the source data had not been published as of August 2026. Because each municipality formulates its own location optimisation plan at its discretion, no zone data exists for municipalities that have not formulated one. Zone shapes and coordinates are reference information based on the state of the source data; please confirm exact boundaries with the relevant municipality.
As of September 2026, the Important Land Survey Act watch/special watch areas and the Natural Parks Act special areas / special protection zones / ordinary areas cover all 47 prefectures (the Natural Parks Act layers cover 46 prefectures, excluding Okayama, whose source data is non-commercial only). Natural Parks Act ordinary areas are not present in the source data as their own category; we compute them as reference information by subtracting Special Areas from the park boundary, and because Marine Park District data is unavailable, the shown extent may be larger than the actual ordinary area in parks that include marine districts. Known buried cultural property sites are shown only where commercially usable open data could be confirmed; many municipalities, including designated cities, are not yet covered. The notification requirement can still apply regardless of coverage, so please confirm with the relevant municipality. All layers referenced in this note are reference information regarding zone boundaries or designation status; please confirm with the materials published by the responsible ministry or municipality for each law. The drone no-fly areas are loaded directly from GSI servers (GSI Maps, other agencies) each time they are displayed, and are not a legal determination of whether you may fly; airport-vicinity airspace, Densely Inhabited Districts, airspace above 150 m and other airspace under the Civil Aeronautics Act are separate regulations, so please check MLIT's DIPS and other official sources. The minpaku ordinances are reference information that we researched, classified and summarized from public sources such as ordinances, official local-government pages and national documents; ordinances may be amended after the check date. The layer does not tell you whether minpaku is allowed, so please always confirm with the local authority where you would file.

Registry information shown here is for reference only. Formal verification of rights requires obtaining a certified copy of registry records. Transaction prices are displayed in accordance with the API terms of use. As of August 2026, the 2026 Land Price Publication covers 25,565 points across all 47 prefectures. The Prefectural Land Price Survey now covers all 47 prefectures, expanded from Kyushu's 7, with 98,684 records spanning the 3 years 2023-2025. Some areas retain a longer time series back to 2007, so the combined total of Land Price Publication and Land Price Survey records held (216,012) does not equal the number of points. As of August 2026, the registry cadastral map (parcel) and farmland parcel (fude) polygons switched from internal-only reference (for address search) to a visible map layer. Coverage varies by municipality's data-preparation status and is expanding progressively. As of August 2026, real-estate transaction price records now include 21 years of history (2005-2025) across all 47 prefectures, totaling 6,577,049 records nationwide. National property for sale has been available since August 2026, covering 2,966 records across all 47 prefectures, of which 1,746 could be located on the map. Properties currently offered by each Local Finance Bureau (142) and properties accepting purchase or lease requests (163) are shown in distinct colors. Listing does not mean the property is currently available for application; in particular, properties accepting requests are not offered for sale. Price fields are accounting book values for reference only and do not represent the actual sale price. Please check the original publication of the relevant Finance Bureau for the latest and accurate details. Note: without signing in, this layer shows properties in the 7 Kyushu prefectures only. Nationwide coverage is available after signing in (Starter or above will be required once the beta period ends). Inheritance-tax rosenka maps and assessment ratio tables are provided by identifying the matching sheet number from an address search result and linking directly to the page published by the National Tax Agency (we do not recreate the map ourselves). When a neighborhood spans multiple sheets, every plausible sheet number is listed. A rosenka map exists only to show rosenka values — it is not an accurately-scaled map for measuring distance or area. Available across all 47 prefectures.

The erosion-control, landslide-prevention and steep-slope-failure zone data of Nagasaki Prefecture is published after we asked the Erosion Control Division of Nagasaki Prefecture whether it may be used in a commercial service. On 2026-10-19 it replied that no special procedure is needed, provided the data is presented only as a reference indication of inside or outside a zone and the Division and the prefectural bureau offices are named as places to confirm. The zones are approximate reference positions, and a location outside a zone is never stated as "not applicable". Please confirm zones with the Erosion Control Division of Nagasaki Prefecture or the relevant prefectural bureau office.
Inland (rainfall-induced) flood inundation zones now support a clickable vector display showing inundation depth on the map. As of August 2026, coverage spans 22 prefectures and approximately 28 municipalities (Osaka Prefecture is not included, as this data has not been published for it). Coverage varies by municipality depending on each local government's data-preparation status, and is being expanded progressively.
Tsunami Disaster Warning Areas / Special Warning Areas (designated under the Act on Special Measures Concerning Tsunami Disaster Prevention Community Development) are a separate legal designation from the tsunami inundation hazard map (the raster tiles listed above), with a different legal basis and designating authority. Because prefectures do not publish vector boundary data for these zones, this layer shows municipality-level designation status only, not the precise zone boundary. All 47 prefectures were surveyed; 495 municipalities in 31 prefectures with a designation are covered (as of October 2026; prefectures add designations over time). Please refer to each prefecture's published zone maps for the official boundary.

The table above lists the municipalities that we asked individually whether their attendance-area materials may be used in a map service for the school district layers, and that replied they have no objection (replies in October 2026). The credits and the note "please confirm the exact attendance area with the board of education" requested by each municipality are shown in the map popup. Districts are estimated by joining the address lists in the materials to Census town blocks, so areas split by lot number may differ from the actual ones. Data of municipalities that declined its use is not published.
For welfare facility data (MLIT National Land Numerical Information P14) provided by Nagasaki Prefecture, the prefecture's terms of use do not permit using it directly for marketing purposes such as sending direct mail (the Terms of Service state the same in "Appendix A: Data Source Licenses").
City Gas Service Area is reference information created by Vulcanz LLC based on the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy's "List of General Gas Pipeline Operators" (as of June 1, 2025, https://www.enecho.meti.go.jp/category/electricity_and_gas/gas/pdf/list_ichido.pdf) and the wheeling (third-party access) supply terms published by each general gas pipeline operator. Based on 87 supply-area records from 26 operators across the Kyushu 7 prefectures (Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, Miyazaki, and Kagoshima), the 249 target municipalities (government-designated cities counted by ward) are classified into three categories: "Service area exists" (82 municipalities, 32.9%), "Unconfirmed (operator exists)" (3 municipalities, 1.2%), and "No applicable operator" (164 municipalities, 65.9%), as of September 2026 (14 records retain notes on partial supply areas). "Unconfirmed (operator exists)" means a general gas pipeline operator serves the area, but its published materials did not let us confirm the exact service area. This data is municipality-level information; it does not indicate supply across an entire municipality or confirm whether a specific parcel can be supplied. Article 35, Paragraph 1, Item 4 of the Building Lots and Buildings Transaction Business Act covers water supply, electricity, gas, and drainage facilities; this data is reference information for the city-gas portion of that item only and does not by itself satisfy it. MAPRISE is not affiliated or partnered with any of the listed general gas pipeline operators. Please always confirm supply availability for a specific parcel directly with the relevant general gas pipeline operator.
Solar panel coverage areas are MAPRISE's own AI estimates, detected from the GSI Digital Japan Basic Map (orthophoto imagery); they do not guarantee the actual location, shape, or area of any installation. Coverage is nationwide (in the 7 Kyushu prefectures it includes the areas around FIT-certified sites) and includes site outlines published by Global Renewables Watch (MIT License) and Kruitwagen et al. (CC BY 4.0) that were verified as still present using Sentinel-2 (Copernicus) imagery. Even so, installations with no certification record, or of a small scale, may not be detected. The area shown is the estimated site outline (array envelope), not the panel surface. During the beta period (through 31 October 2026) this layer can be viewed without signing in; once paid plans launch (from 1 November 2026), a Starter plan or above will be required.
Substations, crematoria, transmission lines, cemeteries, religious facilities, thermal / nuclear power plants and the routes of closed railway lines are reference information based on OpenStreetMap contributor data; completeness and accuracy are not guaranteed. The opening and closing years of closed railway lines are taken from OpenStreetMap date tags or estimated from the years of nearby former stations (Wikidata); estimated segments are marked on the map. Renewable energy power plants (wind, hydro, geothermal, biomass) combine two sources: facilities certified under the FIT/FIP scheme (Kyushu 7 prefectures) and facilities from OpenStreetMap (nationwide). The map popup shows which source each facility came from. Locations of the FIT/FIP-certified subset are estimated from registered addresses and may differ from the actual facility positions. Generation capacity is shown exactly as tagged, with no unit conversion. Check the announcements published by each operator for the current operating status.

PLATEAU building data density varies because each municipality compiles it on its own schedule and method; some central-city areas currently have lower building coverage than surrounding areas. Since August 2026, coverage has expanded from 27 Kyushu municipalities to a nationwide rollout, reaching 265 municipalities and 23,759,999 buildings as of August 16, 2026 (now including areas outside Kyushu), and ingestion continues on an ongoing basis. Building attributes such as structure type, usage and year built are displayed after reconciliation with the official code lists published by MLIT; buildings for which the source data carries no attribute are shown as "unknown". We also cross-reference the Project PLATEAU office's officially published Attribute Disclosure List (as of March 31, 2026): for municipalities where structure and year-built data has not been compiled at all, we clearly state in the PDF report, the AI chat response, and the map popup that the per-scenario collapse probability shown is a reference value based on an assumption. The on-map building color mode supports three views — by usage, by seismic standard, and by height. Hita, Ogi, and Omachi are not included with usage data in the PLATEAU 3D city model, so buildings in those municipalities are shown as "no usage data" under the by-usage mode (buildings individually surveyed and corrected by MAPRISE are marked with a gold border on the map).
The historical topographic maps (1:50,000, pre-war Showa era) are maps originally produced by the former Imperial Japanese Army Land Survey Department, digitized and published by Stanford University Libraries (public domain), which we have positioned and tiled based on their map-sheet coordinates. Since August 2026, coverage has expanded from Kyushu only to major regions nationwide (spanning Hokkaido, Tohoku, Kanto, Chubu, Kinki, Chugoku, Shikoku, and Kyushu). However, because this data depends on the state of the source collection, we cannot include map sheets that Stanford has not yet digitized. As of August 2026, areas including some major cities such as Sendai, Kyoto, and Osaka are not yet covered (we plan to add them once the source materials are published). These maps are pre-war historical records and do not match current terrain, administrative boundaries, or buildings. Please use them as reference material for understanding historical land-use change.

Open statistics for visualising regional lifestyle patterns — food-item expenditure by prefectural capital city, store counts by genre, barbershop / beauty-salon / medical-facility counts, workers by industry sector, and population per council member by municipality. Used in the "Regional Statistics Heatmap" feature.
